Each of the Virtual Playbook segments that you see on ESPN relies on just a couple of things: a developer Xbox 360 and a copy of an EA Sports title.
Their ability to use commodity products I'm sure results in faster innovation time and lower costs, and thus higher profit. It's also very clever when done well. Then, to bring that technology to the consumer, also in innovative ways, is what business is all about.
Here's what Jim [Lynch] and the rest don't seem to realise. Revenue from Adsense and its ilk is a reward for writing content that made people want to visit your website and grant you a pageview. If you do it really well, you'll get a bunch of pageviews, and a bunch of money. Employing tricks like needless pagination, auto-refreshing (see Salon.com), misleading headlines, and the like is cheating. You didn't earn those pageviews, you tricked people into giving them to you.
Ever wanted to see what it's like to be a programmer? Our final group project for EN.600.321, Object Oriented Software Engineering, last fall had over 355 commit messages, a collection of which are given here:

PL: EditCard saves preferences, fixed lil bug with title. The default title is title, and that was being saved as the title, even though it's not the title.Nope, the title is not title.
HPS: Committing before Pablo messes any of my other functionality up.Sounds about right.
Sizing bug? U mean how it's smaller when the app first launches select wut shows in cardareagui?Pablo's typing with things stuck in his teeth again.
HPS: Added an "unselectAll" feature to remove selection artifacting. Doesn't work with TextBoxes 'cause class hierarchy is ridiculous? Text boxes aren't selectable? Yet no exception is thrown?Yes?
JY: changes to pixmap/rectangle to more gracefully handle resizing. Only issue is JVM crashes when we push it on the stack.Small issue.
HPS: Fixed NullPointerException with Signals in DragDropTextItem. Keep it clean, dudes.Keep it clean, keep it classy.
Edit: This is only half a commit. WTF, svn?Yes, indeed.
Filed in Pivotal:No, that's a "feature".

Bug: saving doesn't actually work
JY: shift resizing of pixmaps. Also, any thoughts to having a right click menu for decks? ie, right click to close, test, or edit cards? I know u mac users don't right click often, but it is what all the cool kids are doing on windows. Not true. We play Portal now, even.
Doesn't crash for me :SYou would, Pablo. Please don't do that.

Known bug #1: Apparently, using the built-in Apple swatches in the 3rd pane of the QColorPicker on a Mac causes the JVM to crash. All I can say is, "Please don't do that".
HPS: Added exactly one lie to fix the bug with saving.I think I meant "line", but there are often lies in my code...

Yes, I am a Christian twentysomething, and yes, I have been told on numerous occasions that I should be a pastor. But there is first a distinction between the role of a pastor and the spiritual gift of pastoring. I know many with the latter that will never fulfill the former. Second, I was fortunate enough to be told by the pastor I most respect, "If you can do anything other than full-time ministry, do it. God needs Godly people in the workforce more than He needs them in the Church."
I have spoken to many men and women who told me they were frequently "hit on" as they traveled and went out into public. Though some of them were exceptionally nice-looking and fashionably dressed, many were not. On the other hand, I have spoken to both men and women who were attractive by anyone's standard — even some who dressed more revealingly than I was comfortable with — but they were seldom "hit on" or ogled by others. Why? What was the difference? It wasn't their clothing; it was their souls. It has just as much (or more) to do with the person they wanted to present and their own struggles with lust as with what they wore.Interesting perspective. More evidence for his position from 1 Peter 3:3-5 (NIV):
Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight.

A mathematical analysis of Jobs' claims about the "retina display" resolution on iPhone 4. To put it "clearly", if you have perfect eyesight, you can distinguish the pixels. If you have average eyesight, you can't.
Yep. No surprise here. In an informal survey of my cross-country drivings, BP also has more rural stations than any other brand, most of which are the only station in the community and thus can't be boycotted if one so desired.
